Be still as the morning sun gently caresses your skin
The yellow energy rejuvenates your weary soul - just soak everything in
As you stand alone with your eyes closed, like an innocent child in potent silence
Splashes of baby blue, green and bright yellow warmly colour your senses

the month of controlling temptations

This fasting month, I pray for strength and sustenance.
Whenever my patience thins, I shall turn to You for reinforcement.
Selamat Berpuasa, to whomever this well-wish is applicable to.

steady hands just take the wheel

Life hasn't been the loveliest of times lately. You, whoever you are, will be of awesome help and taking a little load off my chest by swaping your Advanced Advertising class for my Documentary Production module.

thought-provoking

My grandfather was sharing with me his ideals of a good human being, with relations to one's responsibilities as a servant of God, in response to the pressure he feels from people supposedly dictating the way he should lead his life. I reciprocated, but my wisdom and intelligence proved to stretch itself too thin into pitch black dwellings only an old man could understand too well. He was trying to make a point and he made it.

My grandmother slipped on my cat's feeding bowl and banged her head full throttle against the edge of a wooden kitchen chair as she fell to the floor. And as she cried with all her heart and soul as my grandfather wiped her bruised cheek with moist tissue paper, I couldn't help but secretly wish she would expose this vulnerable side to her more often. It doesn't take a genius to conclude that I find extreme difficulty in having the capacity for love towards an iron lady with so much pent-up prejudice.

There is meaning behind everything and lately, I feel that God is compelling me to reflect on these heavy concepts of the complications that come with old age and a deteriorating faith. These reflections leave me affected. Sometimes this desire to make everything alright surges through me, only to be followed by the internalisation of the reality that i am only an 18-year-old teenager. But that doesn't stop me from wanting to try, does it?

A is for Arman

Never before in my three years of Polytechnic education have I receive an overall grade of A. Never before in this tertiary life have i tasted a perfect GPA of 4.0. All that until today. I am so proud and thankful I can just kill all of you with the mere intensity of my pride and joy.

Well done boy, you worked so hard and you truly deserve this.
And thank You, SO MUCH, God.

With expectation comes disappointment and hurt, which is really quite gross and pussy.
Thus I've learnt to not expect much, if anything, from you.
Life's more funky, like a funky chicken that way.

And so I have a number of big and small freelance projects readily knocking on my door. I still suck at coming up with charge rates, considering how most of my services have always been free-of-charge (please be disregardful of how wrong that sounds) all this while. I'm also still worried about being exploited, which I'm fucking sick of because I'm not some rookie anymore. But whatever it is, I'm sure I'll be able to toughen my balls out and I'm happy i actually possess something that's allowing me to earn money. So thank You very much God.

when you know the holidays are here to stay
gavin degraw - meaning (acoustic)

If being a bulimic is synonymous with slow death, I conclude that someone in my family is attempting to kill me by possibly turning me into one. Considering what a vain little fucker I can be, how much are you willing to bet that I'll succumb to pulling off a Daniel Johns on myself?

On a significantly less ridiculous note, the excitement level has been optimistically progressive these holidays. The trip to the Singapore Zoological Gardens was superb, despite the heavy downpour during the last hour of our little adventure in that man-constructed wilderness. But to shed some positive light onto the situation, the rain did give us the perfect opportunity to indulge in our inner un-glamness, as the following picture clearly demonstrates...

If that was too much of an eyesore, you can look at more Zoo photos and admire some decent wildlife photojournalism skills on my DeviantArt page. I dedicated the photos to the memory of Steve Irwin. So what are you waiting for? Click HERE and increase my pageview count, for I am your charity.

Putting the Zoo experience aside, Elin, Rett, Shila and I also went to Johor Baru to give a talk on the work involved in the publishing business last Monday. Our audience was a group of home-schooled students in the 9-17 age group. They were intimidatingly young and quiet but warmed up after a while. Actually, if I were to replay the series of events carefully in my head, the point of time during which they got comfortable was after I introduced myself, upon which I was greeted with unexplainable giggles. I'm a natural joke I tell you.

After the presentation was over, we were given a tour of their home-school and, to our utter amazement, found a randomly disturbing wall depicting an advanced education system...

If you fancy yourself one smart little jackass, you don't even want to know what their word of the week is, unless you're eager to experience a bruise in ego.

Alright, one last feverishly exciting update - I finally got a haircut and it was without a doubt the longest haircut of my life. It was three hours of butt-perspiration as the student hairstylist treated my hair like some science experiment. I must say I'm quite contented with the result though. At the lowest level of expectations, I can happily say that it doesn't look like a mop now.

Cat Killer Petition

Unless you're a child armed with absolutely nothing but innocence and a ridiculously naive mind or simply possess the intelligence of a goldfish, you would know that we're living in a very sick and fucked up world. Now, if you're a regular reader of my journal, I'm giving you the opportunity to make a difference. Why did I sign this petition? Because I'm very passionate about cats, and this is the perfect way to make fuckers who torture them suffer.
