5 years later, we remember...
A message from the Haughton Family
"We greatly appreciate everyone's love and well wishes over the past 5 years. You are constantly loving of Aaliyah; honoring her and the Haughton Family and we will never forget what you have done. Thou it has been five years, it really has not been that long as we are still reeling from the year of 2001. We all have come a very long way and we recognize that however, we have lost so much.
Aaliyah is no longer with us on this earth but we have come far enough to understand that she is all around us and she is always here for us. On the 25th of every year, we donate money to a charity on behalf of the Aaliyah Memorial Fund. Aaliyah is here, she is still here, giving, caring, loving. We will never be the same after August 25th 2001 but we know there is a place that we will all end up one day.
We love everyone of you who and appreciate everyone who has done something in Aaliyah's name big or small. Whatever it is you all have done, it means the world to us. As long as every year, you remember Aaliyah and her friends on August 25th, we know in our hearts everything is going to be alright.
All our love, from the bottom of our hearts, to the depths of our souls...
Until again...
With Aaliyah In our Hearts... The Haughton Family

getting personal with michael-angelo
gold rush - wait for the wheels

In the hassle of everything that's been taking place, I forgot to fill you in on a monumental moment in my life - the purchasing and full ownership of my very first camera - a Canon S3IS PowerShot, whom I've named Michael-Angelo in an attempt to initiate a camera-photographer bond. Here are some sample shots, courtesy of Michael-Angelo. These are completely digitally untouched, and that to me is synonymous with sending a model to walk the runway without any make-up on. But i believe they look good enough to stand on their own. :)

HCA Hospice Care
Perhaps, Elin Wong, one of our Promotions and Publicity people, felt just a tad sadistic when she approached Singapore's hospice care association to negotiate a possible collaboration with Trimedia Publishing. In addition to the Photojourn Exhibition we were organising (my sexy tahu busoks, if you're reading this out of pure, undiluted boredom, remember that horrendous night when we spent the night in school? Yes, that horrible night when we were sleeping on the Atrium tables, getting bitten like pieces of meat by mosquitos, in our effort to take care of the exhibition), we were also revamping HCA Connect, the hospice's newsletter.
Whatever the inspiration for Elin's decision may be, it was a good decision we had made in taking up this charity project venture. Elin, Rett and I attended the tea party organised by the HCA as a gesture of gratitude towards the volunteers, and it seems our efforts were well invested. Everyone thanked us on a job well done, using terms like "sophisticated" and "pretty" to describe their new and improved newsletter, and boy were we glowing like neon fishes. We didn't know that it meant quite a big deal to them that we unloaded this publishing burden off their shoulders, but now that we know, we can only say that we're glad to have helped.

because we had a bad month
I've been attempting the near-impossible for the past 30 minutes of my pathetic existance - to provide you with a synopsis of the past six months of my internship. Considering how tomorrow's the official last day of our IBP (Industry-Based Project), I figured it's only apt I regurgitate an emotional entry and experience a surge of melancholy as I vigorously type out my life story's summary. However, instead of experiencing a deterioration of sanity by pursuing this demanding task, allow me to simply engage in some free-style writing.
First and foremost, the second issue of volume 33 of Tribune [inclusive of the Supplement] has been published and distributed around campus. From the multiple consecutive days of not going home and caging ourselves in the newsroom (we were on the verge of being completely forgotten by our parents), experiencing a blending of time (we were numb to changes in time), just to complete the editorial and design - you have not an inkling of a clue as to how much work goes into it. I am filled with pride and gratification.
Secondly, Hyper can finally be fucking published. For almost a month, we suffered as our client never seemed to be satisfied with our layouts. Every single day, this character I shall only refer to as "Mr. Chee Bye Irritating" will ring up our office to request design and editorial changes that vary in magnitude and significance. But now, Hyper can finally fuck off from our lifes, and $350, I can't wait for you to be transferred to my account!
